RIBA East Award Winner 2021

By Lizzie

The houses form a well-considered mini terrace in an awkward backland site. The project is an excellent example of what can be achieved through good design and simple means to produce a quality piece of architecture, for a profit, with a committed and intelligent developer. If more backland sites were developed with this level of rigour and delight, we would reduce the housing crisis and improve the fabric of our towns and cities in equal measure.” – RIBA East

We were absolutely delighted to win our second RIBA award for 2021, given to Woodside Mews in the RIBA East regional awards! A huge thanks to everyone who was involved in the project, and congratulations to all the shortlisted and winning practices. Thanks to Base Developments for the opportunity to explore an innovative design, and for bringing it to life with such attention to detail.

Woodside Mews is an intelligent and subtle infill development of four speculatively built houses. The houses form a staggered mini terrace which optimises the layout on the site. Each house steps slightly with its neighbour, giving a subtle dynamism to the terrace.” – RIBA East

There are great write-ups of each winning project on the RIBA website which are well worth a read – there are some fantastic buildings and a real range of work. View the full write-up of Woodside Mews on the RIBA East website here.
