Yorkshire Farmhouse & Barn Conversion

This ambitious restoration project transformed an outdated, unoccupied farmhouse and derelict stone barn into two bright and comfortable thermally efficient dwellings incorporating renewable technologies.

The spacious site comprised a farmhouse, stone barns, open metal barns, sheds, and stables that had all fallen into disrepair. Local craftsman Will Saggers of Saggers & Gold was vital in the loving restoration and conversion of these buildings.

The main farmhouse has been completely renovated, with new insulation and photovoltaic panels on the roof, and extended with a single storey extension providing a light and airy living space. The barn has been converted into a highly insulated two bedroom cottage with air source heat pump, with a new extension providing an entrance porch and access out to a new terrace. The original large barn door has been infilled with a timber panelled wall and protruding metal-clad window which forms a window seat on the inside.

A mix of traditional building methods and contemporary additions with bespoke details work sympathetically with the historic fabric of the buildings and bring together the beautiful palette across the site.
