Grade II Listed House, South London

Set on a leafy square in a Conservation Area in South London, this townhouse had previously been divided into two maisonettes, and had been left unoccupied and derelict for several years. The flats were previously set over four floors, with a rear extension leading out to a stepped rear garden. After a detailed planning process involving close liaison with Wandsworth Council, the house has been fully renovated and extended by Hillgrove Projects to form a beautiful, eclectic home.

As part of the works, the existing lower ground floor and rear garden have been excavated to a single level, and the extension has been replaced with a new matching brick addition over 2 floors. New tall glazed doors by L2i (that are neatly concealed in pockets when open) lead from the open plan kitchen/dining/living area to the extensively remodelled garden, with planting scheme by Kate Eyre Garden Design.

Throughout the house, historic features such as sash windows, shutters, and fireplaces have been renovated, and the front elevation has been restored to its former glory including decorative metalwork and stucco plasterwork. The result is a bright, graphically interesting home ideally suited for modern living and enriched by the historic character of the original building.
