Planning permission has been granted for the renovation and extension of this stone barn in Yorkshire. The site is in the Howardian Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with mature gardens that are rich in biodiversity. The process has involved two pre-apps as well as a full planning application for the barn renovation, backed up by Protected Species surveys, a Landscape Visual Impact Assessment, and more.
The barn, which is currently divided into two dwellings, will be returned to one family home. Multiple existing extensions and interventions will be removed as the first phase of the works, prior to the addition of new extensions and landscaping works including a new tennis court and swimming pool.
The existing envelope will be upgraded with new insulation, which alongside new heating systems including a ground source heat pump, will significantly improve the thermal and carbon performance of the dwelling. Detailed design is currently underway and we are working with local consultants to get the scheme ready for tender. Watch this space!
