Planning submitted in Suffolk

By Lizzie

TAS have submitted a planning application for a new low-energy home in Suffolk. Planning permission had previously been obtained by the client for a new traditional, brick family home on the plot, but upon reflection they realised that they could achieve a more sustainable and enjoyable home. Working within the constraints of the existing planning permission and footprint of the previous scheme, TAS collaborated with the client to arrive at a design which would be their dream home and incorporate high levels of insulation, natural solar shading, and renewable technologies. The new scheme takes influence from agricultural buildings, in a long barn form, with low eaves connecting it to the landscape. Glazing at the gable ends provides views out over the wider landscape around the plot, whilst picture windows on the long side frame views out to the existing pond from the main bedroom and the living area.
